Description

When you pick an engineered floor, you really do get the best of both worlds; a solid wood top layer, providing the appearance of a solid wood floor, but with added stability and durability. This Riviera Herringbone Grey Oak is 14mm thick and comes with a 3mm solid wood veneer, meaning that this floor is hardwearing and can also be sanded down and re-finished a couple of times during its lifetime. However, your floor is unlikely to need to be re-finished for at least the first 15-20 years. The brushed and oiled finish to this floor provides a textured and natural appearance, which highlights the natural beauty of the oak.

Herringbone floors are the perfect way to bring a unique style to any room. Each pack comes with a combination of A and B boards, which when fitted together, create this distinctive pattern across the entire floor. Great for anyone looking for something a little different.

How To Fit & Maintain Your Engineered Floor:

Prep Work
It is vital to allow your Engineered Hardwood flooring to acclimatise for at least a period of 48 hours before fitting. You should also check the condition of your subfloor, ensuring that it is level and free of any dirt or debris.

Underlay
Your choice of underlay will vary depending on your subfloor. For example, it is vital to use an underlay with a damp proof membrane (DPM), if you’re fitting your floor over concrete. However, if you’re fitting over floorboards, it is not necessary to use a DPM based underlay.

Although Engineered flooring is fully compatible with under floor heating, you must ensure that the underlay is also compatible, i.e. it can distribute heat evenly across the floor (fit for purpose).

Securing Your Engineered Floor
There are five main methods used:
– Click System
– Gluing
– Floating Floor Method
– Nailing
– Screwing

Fitting
Once you’ve positioned your underlay, Engineered boards can be laid from any edge of the room. Be sure to use expansion spacers as you go along, maintaining at least a 10mm gap between the Engineered boards and the wall.

Remember, a majority of our Engineered floors have simple locking systems, while some have the more classic Tongue & Groove. Essentially, all planks will fit together like jigsaw pieces, creating a resilient, tight bond across each and every board when installed correctly.
