Solid wood, engineered wood and laminate all need that gap so the boards can move with changes in temperature and humidity. The bead hides it and gives the base of the wall a finished look.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eFinishing it to match\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eBecause it arrives bare, you can stain, oil or paint it. That makes it a good option for real wood floors where you want the trim to be real oak too, or where none of our ready-coloured beads is quite right. Test your finish on an offcut first.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eFitting\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe normally recommend nailing it into the skirting, with a small amount of Gripfill or similar adhesive for a firm bond.
