Distressing works marks and softened hollows into the face, and the finish settles into them so knots and grain stand out. Hardwax oil leaves a low-sheen, natural feel rather than a plastic-looking coat. It is a Classic grade oak, so natural features are present without overwhelming the colour. The effect is of an old floor that has been lived on, which suits period homes, cottages and rooms with exposed brick or beams, and everyday marks blend into the distressed surface.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eConstruction and specification\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eEach plank is 14mm deep, with a 3mm real oak top layer bonded to the core. The core is multi-ply, with layers running in opposite directions so the board stays flat through the seasons. Each pack holds 2.888 m² of 190mm wide planks, 1900mm in length. All four edges carry a 4V bevel, which gives each plank a crisp outline across the room.
