brushed-antique-oak-hand-scraped-engineered-wood-flooring
Brushed Antique Oak Hand Scraped 180mm Engineered Plank

Brushed Antique Oak Hand Scraped is a heavyweight engineered plank from our Nature range, with a 6mm real oak top layer on a 20mm board. Its dark antique-brown face is hand scraped and brushed, then hardwax oiled, for a floor that looks and feels hand-finished.

Look and character

Hand scraping leaves shallow, uneven dips across each board, so low light rakes across the floor the way it does over old boards in a country house. Brushing adds a second layer of texture by lifting the softer grain. The antique brown colour is deep and warm, and the hardwax oil gives it a natural matt feel with just a little lustre. It is a Classic grade oak, so the character comes mostly from the surface work rather than big knots. At 180mm wide it has a traditional board proportion that suits period properties, barn conversions and rooms with heavy timber furniture.

Construction and specification

Each pack holds 1.674 m² of 180mm wide planks, 1860mm in length. The board is 20mm thick overall, and the top 6mm is real oak. Beneath it sits a multi-ply base of cross-laid layers, which resists the swelling and shrinking that solid boards can suffer as heating and humidity change. Hardwax oil protects from within the wood rather than as a film on top, and worn areas can be re-oiled locally. With a bevel on the long edges only (2V), the floor has clear lengthwise lines and quieter end joints.

Where it works

Use it through the main rooms of the house: living room, dining room, hallway and bedrooms, plus kitchens and conservatories. The same boards can continue onto the stairs, with stair nosing to finish each step.

Fitting and underfloor heating

You can glue it down or lay it floating; the tongue and groove edges join each board to the next. Finish the room edges with scotia beading to cover the expansion gap. It is suitable for underfloor heating. When you work out quantities, add around 10% for offcuts and waste.

Why order a large free sample

You can have 3 large free samples. Screens rarely show deep colours accurately, so look at a real board in your own room first.

https://www.flooringsurgeons.co.uk/products/brushed-antique-oak-hand-scraped-engineered-wood-flooring
