A 4V bevel puts a small chamfer on all four edges, so every block is outlined and the pattern reads crisply. In 15\/4mm terms, 15mm is how thick the whole block is and 4mm is the depth of real oak on its face. There is enough oak in a 4mm layer for a professional sand and refinish if the surface ever looks tired. Because the plies run in alternating directions, the blocks move far less than solid timber as the heating comes on and the seasons change. Like any real oak floor it isn't waterproof, so keep standing water off it in the kitchen.
