A deep golden colour runs over it, darker and richer than a honey oak, and the hardwax oil settles into the saw marks so they stand out as fine shadows. Rustic grade oak adds knots and strong grain movement, so the whole floor has a rugged, reclaimed feel. It suits barn conversions, country kitchens and rooms with beams or exposed stone, and it is forgiving of everyday wear because new marks simply join the texture.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eConstruction and specification\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe board is 15mm thick overall, and the top 4mm is real oak. Beneath it sits a multi-ply base of cross-laid layers, which resists the swelling and shrinking that solid boards can suffer as heating and humidity change. Hardwax oil soaks into the wood and hardens near the surface, combining a natural feel with good resistance to everyday wear. Each pack holds 2.508 m² of 220mm wide planks, 1900mm in length.
