infused-grey-oak-herringbone-engineered-wood-flooring
Infused Grey Oak 90mm Engineered Herringbone

Infused Grey Oak gives a 90mm herringbone a cool grey colour that seems to sit within the grain rather than on top of it. It is engineered, with a 2mm real oak top layer on a 14mm multi-ply base.

Look and character

The tone is medium grey, cool and contemporary, with the oak's natural grain clearly visible. Rustic grade brings knots and variation, which makes the grey feel lived in rather than flat. The UV oiled finish has a natural, low-sheen look. It suits modern kitchens, grey and white schemes, and homes with black or chrome fittings.

Construction and specification

The build is 14mm in total, made up of a 2mm layer of real oak over cross-laid plywood. With 2mm of real oak on top, you get timber grain and feel underfoot while the multi-ply base does the structural work. A multi-ply base gives a more stable floor than solid oak of the same look, and that matters in a pattern where every joint is on show. At 90mm wide and 450mm long, the blocks sit in the middle of the herringbone range: detailed enough to look like parquet, broad enough to show the grain. A 4V bevel puts a small chamfer on all four edges, so every block is outlined and the pattern reads crisply. Packs cover 1.62 m² each.

Where it works

Laid lengthways down a hallway, a herringbone draws the eye through the space. Rooms listed for this floor are the living room, bedroom, dining room, hallway, kitchen and conservatory, plus stairs. On stairs, finish each tread with stair nosing. In a kitchen, mop up spills promptly, as real oak is not waterproof.

Fitting and underfloor heating

It has tongue and groove joints and can be laid floating over an underlay or glued down to a prepared subfloor. If you float it, choose a suitable flooring underlay first. Allow roughly 10% extra for cutting and waste when you work out how many packs you need.
