Brushing lifts that grain into a soft texture, and the oil sinks in to leave a matt surface that looks and feels like wood rather than a coating. With Classic grade selection, knots are small and occasional. The wider plank shows longer stretches of grain, which suits modern open-plan spaces as well as traditional rooms, and the natural colour works with almost any palette.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eConstruction and specification\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eBoards are 1900mm long and 190mm wide, with 1.805 m² in every pack. The board is 20mm thick overall, and the top 4mm is real oak. Beneath it sits a multi-ply base of cross-laid layers, which resists the swelling and shrinking that solid boards can suffer as heating and humidity change. The oil finish is easy to refresh: scuffed areas can be cleaned and re-oiled without sanding the whole room. A 2V bevel along the two long sides gives soft lines down the length of the floor without breaking it up at the ends.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eWhere it works\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eLiving and dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways, kitchens and conservatories are all good places for it. Carrying the floor up the staircase is possible; use \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/stair-nosing\"\u003estair nosing\u003c\/a\u003e to finish the tread edges neatly.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eFitting and underfloor heating\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eFitting is tongue and groove, either as a floating floor over a good underlay or fully glued to the subfloor. When you work out quantities, add around 10% for offcuts and waste.
