The 18\/3mm figures describe two parts of the same block: 18mm is the full thickness, and 3mm of that is the real oak top layer you see and walk on. The multi-ply engineered core keeps the floor steady when the air in the room gets drier or more humid through the year. A 3mm oak layer can be lightly sanded and refinished by a professional if the surface ever needs refreshing. A 4V bevel puts a small chamfer on all four edges, so every block is outlined and the pattern reads crisply.
