In a herringbone, the dark blocks show the zigzag clearly and the grain changes direction at every joint, giving the floor depth. The textured and embossed surface adds grain underfoot. It suits period homes and moody modern schemes alike, and looks particularly good with white or pale plaster walls, brass, velvet and deep green or blue paint. All four edges carry a small 4V bevel, which outlines each block and adds depth to the floor.
