Distressing gives the boards a worn, lived-in texture, and the wax oil leaves a soft, low-sheen surface that feels natural underfoot. Classic grade oak keeps the knots in proportion, so the character comes mainly from the distressing rather than heavy features. It suits both contemporary and traditional interiors, and works particularly well in family rooms and hallways where an aged surface hides everyday wear.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eConstruction and specification\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eEach pack holds 2.888 m² of 190mm wide planks, 1900mm in length. The 4V bevel runs round every edge, adding definition and a slightly more rustic, board-by-board look. The board is 14mm thick overall, and the top 3mm is real oak. Beneath it sits a multi-ply base of cross-laid layers, which resists the swelling and shrinking that solid boards can suffer as heating and humidity change. The oil finish is easy to refresh: scuffed areas can be cleaned and re-oiled without sanding the whole room.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eWhere it works\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eA mid tone is forgiving day to day, hiding dust and crumbs better than very pale or very dark floors. You can run it from the hallway into living and dining rooms, and use it in bedrooms, kitchens and conservatories too.
