Beneath it sits a multi-ply base of cross-laid layers, which resists the swelling and shrinking that solid boards can suffer as heating and humidity change. Planks measure 260mm wide by 2200mm long, and each pack covers 2.86 m². Such a wide board shows off the grain of each piece and keeps joints to a minimum. The 4V bevel runs round every edge, adding definition and a slightly more rustic, board-by-board look.
