It is a 14mm engineered floor with a 3mm real oak top layer.

Look and character

The bare oak has a medium, natural tone, with its grain and character on show. After installation, you can oil, lacquer or stain the floor to create the colour and sheen you want, or match existing woodwork. Classic grade oak includes some knots and variation. The larger blocks give long runs of grain and suit bigger rooms.

Construction and specification

Larger 125mm by 600mm blocks suit bigger rooms and open-plan spaces, where a small pattern can look fussy. The build is 14mm in total, made up of a 3mm layer of real oak over cross-laid plywood. Because the plies run in alternating directions, the blocks move far less than solid timber as the heating comes on and the seasons change. The 3mm layer is a common, practical depth for engineered oak, and a fitter can usually give it a light sand in the future. Bevels on all four edges (4V) frame each block and help the geometry stand out. Packs cover 1.2 m² each.

Where it works

Use it through the main living spaces, bedrooms, the hallway, kitchen and conservatory, and on stairs. It is not waterproof, so in kitchens wipe up spills quickly. In a hallway the zigzag leads you through the house; in a dining room it frames the table.
