The hardwax oil settles into those marks and keeps the floor matt and tactile. The long edges are bevelled (2V), so you see the long lines of the boards while the ends butt up tight. This is a 15\/4mm engineered board: 15mm from face to underside, of which the upper 4mm is real oak. A multi-ply core does the structural work, keeping movement low when the room warms up or cools down.
