What to Check Before Buying Engineered Wood Flooring
Engineered wood flooring has a real wood top layer with supporting layers designed for greater stability. Specifications vary, so compare the key details before buying:
- Wear-layer and overall board thickness
- Board width, length and pack coverage
- Click, tongue-and-groove, floating or glue-down installation
- Underfloor heating and room suitability
- Finish, grade, colour variation and care requirements
- Underlay, adhesive and accessories required
- Warranty, current stock and delivery availability
For kitchens, open-plan rooms or areas with temperature changes, choose products specifically approved for that environment. Water-resistant and waterproof are not the same, so always follow the individual product specification and installation guidance. If underlay is required, shop our engineered flooring underlay and check compatibility before installation.

Engineered Wood Flooring Prices & Cost per m²
Our prices are shown per m², with flooring supplied in full packs. The total cost will depend on board thickness, wear layer, plank size, wood grade, finish and design.
Use our Flooring Calculator to estimate how many packs you need and allow for cuts and wastage. For herringbone, chevron, Versailles panels and complex room layouts, we generally recommend allowing around 10-15% extra for wastage, depending on the room and installation pattern.
When comparing engineered wood flooring prices, look beyond the cost per m². Consider the wear layer, thickness, finish, warranty, installation method and pack coverage to find the best value for your project.
