How Do I Measure My Room

Before ordering your new flooring, it’s important to know how much you’ll need.

While measuring your space is straightforward, it can feel tricky if the room has an unusual shape or size. That’s why we’ve created a simple guide to help you measure accurately.

Remember to add an extra 10% to your total area to account for typical wastage. To calculate this, multiply the total area by 1.10. For example, if your area is 20m² : 20x1.10=22m² . This means the 10% wastage would add 2m² to your total.

Measuring for Rectangular Rooms

For example, if your room is rectangular like the one shown below, simply measure the LENGTH and WIDTH and multiply them together.

For instance, if your room is 8 meters long and 4 meters wide, you’ll need 32m² of flooring to cover the area.

Measuring For U-Shaped Rooms

If your room is U-shaped, we recommend splitting it into three sections for easier measurement.

Measure the LENGTH and WIDTH of each section, multiply them together, then add the areas of all three sections to get the total area of your U-shaped room.

Measuring For Complicated Rooms

If your room is more complex, the splitting method is still the most accurate option.

Divide the room into as many sections as needed, then multiply the LENGTH and WIDTH of each section to find its area. Finally, add the areas of all sections together to get the total measurement for the room. (Remember to take notes as you go.)
