Glue-down LVT is thin, dense luxury vinyl bonded directly to a smoothed subfloor. It is waterproof, quiet and extremely stable, and suits kitchens, bathrooms, large open-plan spaces and commercial floors where the finish needs to be flawless.
Yes. Luxury vinyl tiles and planks are made from vinyl layers, so the boards themselves are not damaged by water. That makes them a good choice for bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms. Seal the edges with a suitable sealant in bathrooms and wipe up standing water, so it cannot get beneath the floor.
Glue-down LVT is bonded to the subfloor, so it is extremely stable, quiet underfoot and able to run through large areas without expansion strips. It is thinner, which helps at thresholds. It also allows more intricate patterns and borders. The trade-off is that it needs a very smooth subfloor and is usually a professional installation.
A smooth, flat, dry and clean subfloor. On concrete, that normally means a levelling compound, and on timber floors a plywood overlay. Any lumps or gaps will show through the thin vinyl over time. Check the moisture level on new screeds before fitting.
The wear layer is the clear film that protects the printed design. Our glue-down range has wear layers from 0.5mm to 0.7mm, and all are suited to busy homes. The 0.7mm floors offer the most protection and are a good choice for commercial areas, hallways and homes with large dogs.
LVT generally works well with underfloor heating as long as the surface temperature stays within the manufacturer's limit, usually around 27°C. Around a third of our glue-down designs are confirmed for underfloor heating in their spec; check each product, and use an adhesive suitable for heated floors.
Every glue-down floor here is 2.5mm or 3mm thick. That slim profile means it rarely causes problems at door thresholds and sits flush against other thin surfaces. Wear layers run from 0.5mm to 0.7mm, at or above the heaviest spec in our click range, which makes glue-down a sensible choice for heavy traffic and light commercial use.
Formats are wide-ranging. Planks are 185mm to 237mm wide and up to 1532mm long. Herringbone comes in narrow 76mm blocks as well as 95mm and 150mm sizes. There are also chevron and stone-effect tiles.
Glue-down LVT needs preparation. The subfloor must be smooth, flat, dry and clean, usually achieved with a levelling compound, because any imperfection will show through a thin floor. For that reason, it is typically laid by a professional fitter. Once down, it will not move, lift or creak, and it can run through doorways without expansion strips.
All are waterproof. Around a third of the designs are confirmed for underfloor heating in their spec; check each product before buying. Compare with click LVT if you prefer a floating, DIY-friendly floor.
Once it is down, a glued floor will not move, lift or creak.
