Look and character

The colour is a warm, natural golden oak that adds richness and comfort to a room. The Versailles pattern is a woven, lattice-like parquet design, the look associated with French chateaux and grand period homes. An embossed in register finish means the surface texture follows the printed grain, so the wood effect looks and feels more convincing up close. It suits both modern and traditional rooms, and looks especially good with cream walls, panelling, brass lighting and simple furniture that lets the floor lead.

Construction and specification

The 12mm build has real body to it, so the floor feels steady when you walk across it and sounds less hollow once laid over a good underlay. All four edges carry a small 4V bevel, which outlines each panel and adds depth to the floor. Each pack covers 1.956 m² of floor. It carries an AC4 abrasion rating, which covers busy homes and light commercial spaces, so daily footfall, chair legs and kids are well within its range. Each panel measures 405mm by 805mm, with the Versailles pattern already built into it, so you get an intricate parquet design without laying hundreds of small pieces.

Where it works

Suitable rooms include conservatories, hallways, living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. In a kitchen, wipe up spills and standing water promptly, as you would with any laminate. Taking it up the stairs? Finish each tread with stair nosing for a neat, safe edge. Fitting and underfloor heating

The panels click together and are laid as a floating floor, so nothing is fixed down to the subfloor. Lay it over a suitable flooring underlay, which smooths out small bumps and softens footfall noise. Add about 10% to the measured area for cuts and waste, and plan the layout from the centre of the room so the pattern sits square.
