Silk Oak Versailles Panel 12mm Laminate

Silk Oak Versailles is a pale, clean-toned laminate panel with the ornate Versailles parquet pattern built in. From our Cambridge range, it gives a high-end feature floor without the upkeep of real wood.

Look and character

The colour is a light beige oak, soft and clean, which helps rooms feel lighter and more spacious. The Versailles pattern forms a woven lattice of pieces, a design associated with grand period homes, and in a pale tone it reads as elegant rather than heavy. An embossed in register finish means the surface texture follows the printed grain, adding depth and realism. It suits white and soft grey walls, panelling, mirrors and simple modern furniture.

Construction and specification

Being 12mm thick, each panel gives a reassuring, solid step and a calmer sound underfoot compared with thinner laminate. All four edges carry a small 4V bevel, which outlines each panel and adds depth to the floor. Each pack covers 1.956 m² of floor. The Versailles design comes as 405mm by 805mm panels, which keeps an ornate parquet layout practical to fit. An AC4 wear rating tells you the surface is made for high-traffic domestic areas as well as general commercial use.

Where it works

You can lay it in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, hallways, conservatories and bathrooms. Fit felt pads to chair and table legs to protect the surface. For stairs, pair it with laminate stair nosing so the edge of every step is protected. Compare it with other parquet-effect laminate designs.

Fitting and underfloor heating

Fitting uses a click system, with the finished floor laid floating over an underlay. A good laminate underlay goes underneath to level small imperfections and quieten the floor. Add about 10% to the measured area for cuts and waste, and plan the layout from the centre of the room so the pattern sits square. It is suitable for underfloor heating. Finish the edges of the room with scotia beading to cover the expansion gap.
