Frequently Asked Questions

Is LVT waterproof?

Yes. Luxury vinyl tiles and planks are made from vinyl layers, so the boards themselves are not damaged by water. That makes them a good choice for bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms. Seal the edges with a suitable sealant in bathrooms and wipe up standing water, so it cannot get beneath the floor.

What is the difference between chevron and herringbone?

Herringbone blocks have square ends and are laid so each block meets the side of the next, forming a broken zigzag. Chevron blocks have angled ends, so rows meet in a clean, continuous point. Chevron looks more formal and directional.

Is chevron LVT hard-wearing?

Every chevron design here has a 0.7mm wear layer, the thickest in our LVT range. That makes it suitable for heavy domestic use and busy commercial areas such as shops, offices and restaurants. Regular sweeping to remove grit and a suitable vinyl cleaner will keep it looking sharp.

Can I lay chevron LVT myself?

It is best left to a professional. The subfloor must be levelled to a high standard, the adhesive applied correctly, and the points aligned precisely from a centre line. Small errors in setting out are very visible in a chevron floor.

A sharp pattern in hard-wearing vinyl

This is a small edit of oak-effect chevron designs, named after the four seasons. Every block shares one specification: 3mm thick with a 0.7mm wear layer, the toughest we offer in LVT, in 158mm by 710mm blocks.

Those broad, long blocks create a confident, contemporary chevron that suits larger rooms and open-plan spaces. In a hallway, points running along the length of the space draw the eye forward and make it feel longer. Because the vinyl is only 3mm thick, it sits neatly alongside other thin floors at doorways, and a damaged block can be replaced individually.

The format also suits commercial spaces, where a pattern floor needs to cope with constant footfall. Chevron must be set out precisely from a centre line so the points meet all the way down the room, and the blocks are glued to a smooth, levelled subfloor. It is a job for a professional fitter. Allow 10% extra for waste. The blocks are waterproof, so they suit bathrooms and kitchens.
