Description

Smoked Oak Distressed brings together a deep smoked colour and an aged, distressed surface on a substantial board. It is a 20mm New York engineered plank with a 6mm real oak top layer, 190mm wide and 1900mm long.

Look and character

The smoked colour is a rich, dark brown with cool undertones, and the distressing adds scrapes, dents and worn edges that catch the light. The hardwax oil settles into that texture and keeps the surface matt, so the floor looks like old, dark timber rather than a new stained board. Knots and grain are emphasised by the smoke, giving a vintage depth. It suits period homes, cosy studies and snug living rooms, and pairs well with leather, brass and deep paint colours.

Construction and specification

Each plank is 20mm deep, with a 6mm real oak top layer bonded to the core. A multi-ply core does the structural work, keeping movement low when the room warms up or cools down. Each pack holds 1.805 m² of 190mm wide planks, 1900mm in length. The 4V bevel runs round every edge, adding definition and a slightly more rustic, board-by-board look. A hardwax oil finish penetrates the timber and leaves a tough, low-sheen surface that can be spot-repaired and refreshed.

Where it works

Living and dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways, kitchens and conservatories are all good places for it. For stairs, pair it with stair nosing so each step has a clean, safe edge.

Fitting and underfloor heating

It is suitable for underfloor heating. Fitting is tongue and groove, either as a floating floor over a good underlay or fully glued to the subfloor. For a floating installation, choose a flooring underlay that matches your subfloor. Add about 10% to your room size for cuts and waste.

Why order a large free sample

You can have 3 large free samples. Screens rarely show deep colours accurately, so look at a real board in your own room first. Our best price promise and 30-day returns apply when you order the full floor.

Installation Guide

This product features a Tongue & Groove installation system. It can be floated over an underlay or fully bonded to the subfloor.

  • Acclimatise packs for 48 hours before installation
  • Ensure subfloor is dry, level and clean
  • Leave 10mm expansion gap around the perimeter

The wide planks were exactly what we needed for our home. The darker oak shade adds a cosy feeling without making the room look too dark.

Bailey Tate

You can tell this is a quality engineered floor as soon as you see it. The wider planks and solid oak top layer make a huge difference.

The finish was far better than I expected. The look is a dream.
