Burntwood Oak is a deep brown, small-block herringbone with the busy, detailed pattern of traditional parquet. At 10mm thick with a 3mm real oak top layer, it is a slim engineered build that helps where floor height is limited.
The colour is dark brown, with the rich, toasted depth the name hints at. Rustic grade oak brings knots and noticeable grain variation, so no two blocks look quite the same. Brushing adds texture, and the oiled finish gives a natural, low-sheen surface that feels like timber rather than a coating. Dark herringbone looks good with cream walls, brass and black metal, and warm timber furniture.
Each block is 10mm thick overall, with a 3mm real oak top layer bonded to a multi-ply base. 3mm of real oak gives you the grain and feel of timber, with scope for a careful professional sand later on. A multi-ply base gives a more stable floor than solid oak of the same look, and that matters in a pattern where every joint is on show. At 80mm wide and 300mm long, these are compact blocks with the close-set look of older parquet floors. The 2V bevel runs along the two long edges, outlining the length of each block while the ends butt close. A pack covers 0.96 m² of floor.
You can lay it in hallways, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, conservatories and kitchens, and carry it on up the stairs. If you are continuing up the stairs, choose matching stair nosing for the tread edges. Herringbone runs well from room to room, so it can link a hall, kitchen and living space in one pattern. In a kitchen, mop up spills promptly, as real oak is not waterproof. Browse our engineered herringbone floors to see it next to other colours.
The tongue and groove blocks can be floated or glued down, depending on your subfloor. Our flooring underlay range covers floating installations. Underfloor heating is fine with this floor; browse more underfloor heating flooring if you are comparing. Allow roughly 10% extra for cutting and waste when you work out how many packs you need. Scotia beading gives a tidy finish where the floor meets the skirting.
Screens can't show texture or sheen properly, so a large free sample of Burntwood Oak is the best way to judge it. You can have 3 large free samples, and you are welcome at our Halesowen showroom, 214a Dudley Road.
This product features a Tongue & Groove installation system. It can be floated over an underlay or fully bonded to the subfloor.
