Meadow Oak is a soft, mid-toned natural oak laid in small 80mm herringbone blocks. It is a slim engineered floor, 10mm thick, with a 3mm real oak top layer.
The colour is medium natural oak, gentle and unstained, sitting between the pale and dark ends of the range. Rustic grade means knots, grain movement and natural marks are part of the look. Brushing brings up the grain and the oiled finish keeps a soft, natural surface with little sheen. It is an easy, relaxed floor for family living rooms, bedrooms and hallways.
Under the 3mm real oak surface sits a multi-ply base, bringing each block to 10mm in total. That engineered core is what keeps the floor steady when the air in the room gets drier or more humid through the year. A 3mm oak layer can be lightly sanded and refinished by a professional if the surface ever needs refreshing. The 80mm by 300mm blocks are a small, traditional parquet size, so the zigzag is fine and busy and shows plenty of pattern even in a narrow hallway. With a 2V bevel on the long sides, the zigzag lines are defined but the floor still looks fairly flush. Packs cover 0.96 m² each.
You can lay it in hallways, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, conservatories and kitchens, and carry it on up the stairs. For a staircase, pair it with our stair nosing for a neat edge on every tread. Laid lengthways down a hallway, a herringbone draws the eye through the space. Like any real oak floor it isn't waterproof, so keep standing water off it in the kitchen. Compare other herringbone engineered wood floors to weigh up sizes and colours.
The tongue and groove blocks can be floated or glued down, depending on your subfloor. For a floating fit, start with the right underlay for wood floors. It can be used over underfloor heating, and you'll find other options in our underfloor heating flooring collection. Finish the edges with scotia beading. Herringbone involves more cutting than a straight plank floor, so add about 10% to your measured area for cuts and waste.
Meadow Oak will look different in your light than on a screen, so order a large free sample first. You can have up to 3 large free samples, or visit our Halesowen showroom to see floors in person.
This product features a Tongue & Groove installation system. It can be floated over an underlay or fully bonded to the subfloor.
