Cottage Oak is a light, natural-toned herringbone with a relaxed, country feel. The 90mm blocks are engineered, 14mm thick, with a 3mm real oak top layer and a brushed, lacquered surface.
The colour is light natural oak, without a heavy stain, so the warmth comes from the timber itself. As a Rustic grade oak, knots, grain swirls and small natural marks are part of the look, which gives the floor its cottage character. Brushing adds a gentle texture and the lacquer seals it, so the floor is easy to look after in a busy home. It sits well with painted kitchens, exposed brick, beams and simple wooden furniture.
The 90 x 400mm block is a classic herringbone size that works in small rooms and open-plan spaces alike. Under the 3mm real oak surface sits a multi-ply base, bringing each block to 14mm in total. That engineered core is what keeps the floor steady when the air in the room gets drier or more humid through the year. The 3mm layer is a common, practical depth for engineered oak, and a fitter can usually give it a light sand in the future. The 2V bevel runs along the two long edges, outlining the length of each block while the ends butt close. A pack covers 1.872 m² of floor.
In a hallway the zigzag leads you through the house. It is suitable for living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, kitchens and conservatories, and it can be used on stairs too. In a kitchen, mop up spills promptly, as real oak is not waterproof. For a staircase, pair it with our stair nosing for a neat edge on every tread. Browse our engineered herringbone floors to see it next to other colours.
Fit it with tongue and groove joints, either floating on a suitable underlay or fully glued down. If you float it, choose a suitable flooring underlay first. The floor is suitable for use with underfloor heating, like the rest of our underfloor heating flooring. Order about 10% more than the measured area to allow for cuts at the edges. Matching scotia beading neatens the join at the skirting.
Screens can't show texture or sheen properly, so a large free sample of Cottage Oak is the best way to judge it. You can have 3 large free samples, and you are welcome at our Halesowen showroom, 214a Dudley Road.
This product features a Tongue & Groove installation system. It can be floated over an underlay or fully bonded to the subfloor.
