Golden Oak Hand Scraped is a warm, textured herringbone with a surface that looks shaped by hand. The 90mm blocks are engineered, 14mm thick, with a 3mm real oak top layer.
The tone is a medium golden oak, warm and inviting. Hand scraping leaves gentle dips and ridges across each block, so light plays over the surface and the floor feels old and well used. Rustic grade oak adds knots and grain changes to that texture. A UV lacquered finish seals it all in, which makes the uneven surface easy to look after. It suits cottages, period homes and rooms with beams or exposed brick.
At 90mm wide and 300mm long, the blocks sit in the middle of the herringbone range: detailed enough to look like parquet, broad enough to show the grain. Under the 3mm real oak surface sits a multi-ply base, bringing each block to 14mm in total. A multi-ply base gives a more stable floor than solid oak of the same look, and that matters in a pattern where every joint is on show. The 3mm layer is a common, practical depth for engineered oak, and a fitter can usually give it a light sand in the future. A 4V bevel puts a small chamfer on all four edges, so every block is outlined and the pattern reads crisply. A pack covers 1.512 m² of floor.
It is listed for kitchens, conservatories, hallways, bedrooms, dining rooms and living rooms, as well as stairs. Like any real oak floor it isn't waterproof, so keep standing water off it in the kitchen. Laid lengthways down a hallway, a herringbone draws the eye through the space. Compare other engineered oak herringbone floors to weigh up sizes and colours. On stairs, finish each tread with stair nosing.
It has tongue and groove joints and can be laid floating over an underlay or glued down to a prepared subfloor. If you float it, choose a suitable flooring underlay first. Herringbone involves more cutting than a straight plank floor, so add about 10% to your measured area for cuts and waste. It can be used over underfloor heating, and you'll find other options in our underfloor heating flooring collection. Finish the edges with scotia beading.

This product features a Tongue & Groove installation system. It can be floated over an underlay or fully bonded to the subfloor.
