Golden Smoked Oak 90mm Engineered Herringbone

Golden Smoked Oak blends smoked depth with warm golden tones in a 90mm herringbone. It is a 12mm engineered board with a thin real oak veneer, which makes it an affordable way into real wood parquet.

Look and character

The overall tone is dark, but golden notes come through the smoked colour, so the floor feels warm rather than cold. Brushing adds a light texture, and the lacquered finish seals the surface for everyday use. Classic grade oak brings some knots and variation. It gives a rich, traditional look to living rooms and dining rooms, and sits well with cream walls and brass or bronze details.

Construction and specification

The 12/1.2mm figures describe two parts of the same block: 12mm is the full thickness, and 1.2mm of that is the real oak top layer you see and walk on. At 1.2mm, the oak surface is a veneer rather than a thick wear layer, which keeps the cost down while the floor still shows real grain. Engineering the board this way keeps it flatter and more stable than a solid block of the same size. A 90mm width with a 400mm length gives a balanced zigzag, less busy than small-block parquet and less bold than the wide formats. Bevels on all four edges (4V) frame each block and help the geometry stand out. One pack lays 2.16 m².

Where it works

In a hallway the zigzag leads you through the house; in a dining room it frames the table. It is listed for kitchens, conservatories, hallways, bedrooms, dining rooms and living rooms, as well as stairs. Stairs need a finished edge, so add stair nosing to the order. Fitting and underfloor heating

It has tongue and groove joints and can be laid floating over an underlay or glued down to a prepared subfloor. A floating installation needs a good flooring underlay underneath. Allow roughly 10% extra for cutting and waste when you work out how many packs you need. Finish the edges with scotia beading.
