Natural Oak Engineered Versailles Panel

Natural Oak Versailles panels bring a traditional French parquet pattern to a warm, unstained oak. The 600mm square panels are 15mm thick with a 4mm real oak top layer.

Look and character

The colour is medium natural oak, the classic parquet tone. An oiled finish gives a tactile, natural surface with a soft sheen. Classic grade adds some knots and grain variation, which helps pick out the interlaced strips in each panel. The 600mm panel is a more compact size, so the pattern repeats more often and suits medium-sized rooms well.

Construction and specification

Laid as 600 x 600mm squares, the panels build up the framed, criss-cross Versailles pattern long associated with grand period rooms. Under the 4mm real oak surface sits a multi-ply base, bringing each panel to 15mm in total. Engineering the board this way keeps it flatter and more stable than a solid block of the same size. There is enough oak in a 4mm layer for a professional sand and refinish if the surface ever looks tired. A micro bevel gives the edges only a very fine chamfer, so the panels look close to flush. Each pack covers 2.16 m².

Where it works

Versailles panels make a strong centrepiece in a living or dining room, where the pattern can be seen as a whole. It is listed for kitchens, conservatories, hallways, bedrooms, dining rooms and living rooms. In a kitchen, mop up spills promptly, as real oak is not waterproof. Fitting and underfloor heating

Installation is tongue and groove, and your fitter can choose a floating or glue-down method. Our flooring underlay range covers floating installations. A Versailles floor involves more cutting than a straight plank floor, so add about 10% to your measured area for cuts and waste. Finish the edges with scotia beading.
