Brushed Natural Oak is a Versailles panel floor in the honest, mid-toned colour of natural oak. The 800mm panels are 20mm thick, with a 4mm real oak top layer on a multi-ply base.
Its colour is a medium natural oak, warmer and a little deeper than the light oak versions, with no strong stain added. Brushing opens up the grain, and the matt lacquered coat keeps a soft, low-sheen look while sealing the surface. Classic grade oak adds some knots and grain variation, which helps the interlaced strips of each panel stand apart from one another. It suits period homes, and it works just as well as the single statement in a plain, modern living room.
Under the 4mm real oak surface sits a multi-ply base, bringing each panel to 20mm in total. Because the plies run in alternating directions, the panels move far less than solid timber as the heating comes on and the seasons change. A 4mm top layer leaves a good depth of oak for sanding and refinishing later on. Laid as 800 x 800mm squares, the panels build up the framed, criss-cross Versailles pattern long associated with grand period rooms. The edges carry a micro bevel, just enough to soften each joint without drawing dark lines across the pattern. Packs cover 2.56 m² each.
The panel pattern suits larger rooms and entrance halls, where several squares can be seen at once. Rooms listed for this floor are the living room, bedroom, dining room, hallway, kitchen and conservatory. Browse our Versailles floors in engineered wood to see it next to other colours. It is not waterproof, so in kitchens wipe up spills quickly.
Fit it with tongue and groove joints, either floating on a suitable underlay or fully glued down. A floating installation needs a good flooring underlay underneath. The floor is suitable for use with underfloor heating, like the rest of our underfloor heating flooring. Finish the edges with scotia beading. A Versailles floor involves more cutting than a straight plank floor, so add about 10% to your measured area for cuts and waste.
Screens can't show texture or sheen properly, so a large free sample of Brushed Natural Oak is the best way to judge it. You can have 3 large free samples, and you are welcome at our Halesowen showroom, 214a Dudley Road.
This product features a Tongue & Groove installation system. It can be floated over an underlay or fully bonded to the subfloor.
