Smoked Golden Oak 90mm Solid Herringbone

Smoked Golden Oak is a rich, dark herringbone that combines golden warmth with a smoky depth. Each 90mm by 300mm block is 18mm of solid oak, brushed and finished with UV oil for a natural, textured surface.

Look and character

The colour has a smoky hue over a golden base, which gives the pattern depth and character without turning it black. Brushing lifts the grain, and the UV oil soaks into the wood to protect it and bring out the texture with a low sheen. Classic grade blocks show natural knots and variation that suit this rich, traditional look. With 4V bevels outlining each block, the herringbone is easy to read even in a darker colour. It suits period dining rooms, studies and living rooms with warm lighting.

Construction and specification

At 18mm, this is a substantial solid oak floor. Every block is real oak all the way through, which is the key difference from engineered flooring: when the surface eventually shows wear, it can be sanded and refinished again, and more times than an engineered board allows. The blocks measure 90mm across and 300mm long, and a pack covers 1.08 m².

Where it works

It is a floor for the main living spaces: lounges, dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways and conservatories, plus stairs with a matching stair nosing. As with any solid wood, keep it out of wet rooms. You can compare it with the rest of our solid herringbone floors.

Fitting

There are three ways to lay it: tongue and groove, glue down or nail down. Your fitter will choose based on the subfloor and the room. Allow roughly 10% extra for cuts and waste. Patterned floors like this need more cuts at the room edges, so don't skimp on the extra. Around the edges, scotia beading covers the expansion gap neatly. For underfloor heating, please check with us and we will confirm before you order. Use the right wood floor care products to look after the finish.
