Unfinished Oak 90mm Solid Herringbone

Unfinished Oak Herringbone gives you a blank canvas: 18mm solid oak blocks, 90mm by 300mm, supplied with no factory finish. Once fitted, the floor can be oiled, stained or lacquered to the exact colour and sheen you want.

Look and character

Raw oak has a light, natural colour and open grain, and this is how the blocks arrive. Because the finish goes on after fitting, it is applied across the whole floor in one go, sealing the joins as well as the blocks. That makes it the choice for bespoke colours, matching an existing floor, or a traditional parquet where the finish is part of the craft. Classic grade oak brings natural grain and some knots, and the 4V bevel on each block gives crisp edges. Remember to budget for the finishing products and the time to apply them.

Construction and specification

Why choose solid over engineered? With Unfinished Oak, the whole 18mm thickness is oak, so the wearing surface is not limited to a thin top layer. Years down the line, a professional sand and refinish can take the floor back to fresh timber, and that can be repeated more times than on an engineered board. Size-wise, the blocks are 90mm wide and 300mm long, and one pack covers 1.08 m².

Where it works

Unfinished Oak suits living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways and conservatories, and it can run up the stairs with matching stair nosing on each tread. Fitting

It can be laid tongue and groove, glued down or nailed down to a sound subfloor. Add around 10% to your order for cuts and waste, and trim the perimeter with scotia beading. Patterned floors like this need more cuts at the room edges, so don't skimp on the extra. If your home has underfloor heating, talk to us first so we can confirm it will work with your system.
