Sunridge Oak 80mm Engineered Herringbone

Sunridge Oak is a warm, mid-brown herringbone with a heavy 20mm build and a thick 6mm real oak top layer. The 80mm blocks give the fine pattern of traditional parquet.

Look and character

The tone is medium brown, warm and sunny as the name suggests, with the grain adding lighter and darker notes. Rustic grade oak brings knots and natural marks. Brushing adds texture and the oiled finish keeps the surface natural and matt. It suits busy family homes, hallways and kitchens where a textured, natural floor feels right.

Construction and specification

Each block is 20mm thick overall, with a 6mm real oak top layer bonded to a multi-ply base. 6mm is a thick wear surface for engineered wood, so there is plenty of real oak to sand back and refinish if it ever needs a refresh. Cross-laid layers resist the swelling and shrinking that solid wood is prone to, which helps the joints stay tight. Small 80 x 350mm blocks give a detailed pattern with lots of joints, which is what makes classic parquet look the way it does. A 2V bevel, on the long edges only, gives a softer outline than a four-sided bevel. One pack lays 1.12 m².

Where it works

Herringbone runs well from room to room, so it can link a hall, kitchen and living space in one pattern. It is listed for kitchens, conservatories, hallways, bedrooms, dining rooms and living rooms, as well as stairs. It is not waterproof, so in kitchens wipe up spills quickly. Fitting and underfloor heating

Installation is tongue and groove, and your fitter can choose a floating or glue-down method. If you float it, choose a suitable flooring underlay first. It can be used over underfloor heating, and you'll find other options in our underfloor heating flooring collection. Finish the edges with scotia beading. Herringbone involves more cutting than a straight plank floor, so add about 10% to your measured area for cuts and waste.
