Wheaten Oak pairs warm, wheat-coloured tones with distinctive oak grain in a 90mm herringbone. It is engineered, 15mm thick, with a 4mm real oak top layer and a UV oiled finish.
The tone is medium, a soft beige with warmth, and easy to pair with neutral decor. Rustic grade oak brings variation in grain and colour, so each block has its own appearance. The UV oiled finish gives a natural, low-sheen look. It works with natural fabrics and darker furniture, and suits both traditional and contemporary rooms.
The 15/4mm figures describe two parts of the same block: 15mm is the full thickness, and 4mm of that is the real oak top layer you see and walk on. There is enough oak in a 4mm layer for a professional sand and refinish if the surface ever looks tired. A multi-ply base gives a more stable floor than solid oak of the same look, and that matters in a pattern where every joint is on show. A 90mm width with a 400mm length gives a balanced zigzag, less busy than small-block parquet and less bold than the wide formats. The 2V bevel runs along the two long edges, outlining the length of each block while the ends butt close. A pack covers 1.872 m² of floor.
Herringbone runs well from room to room, so it can link a hall, kitchen and living space in one pattern. Rooms listed for this floor are the living room, bedroom, dining room, hallway, kitchen and conservatory, plus stairs. It is not waterproof, so in kitchens wipe up spills quickly. On stairs, finish each tread with stair nosing. See more herringbone engineered wood floors if you want to compare.
Installation is tongue and groove, and your fitter can choose a floating or glue-down method. A floating installation needs a good flooring underlay underneath. Allow roughly 10% extra for cutting and waste when you work out how many packs you need. The floor is suitable for use with underfloor heating, like the rest of our underfloor heating flooring. Scotia beading gives a tidy finish where the floor meets the skirting.
Colour and grain vary from block to block, so it pays to see Wheaten Oak at home before you buy. Order up to 3 large free samples, or call us on 0121 274 8575 and we can help you choose.
This product features a Tongue & Groove installation system. It can be floated over an underlay or fully bonded to the subfloor.
