Brown Waxed Haze Oak 90mm Engineered Chevron

Brown Waxed Haze Oak brings a mid-brown oak into a chevron layout, where angled boards meet in sharp, repeating Vs. It is engineered wood with a real oak surface, 90mm wide and UV oiled.

Look and character

The colour is a medium brown, with the softened, slightly hazy tone the name describes rather than a strong, even stain. Rustic grade oak brings knots and grain changes into play, and each board varies a little from the next. The UV oiled surface has a low, natural sheen that lets the grain show through. In a chevron, the brown tone and the crisp V shapes combine to give a floor that feels both traditional and current.

Construction and specification

Unlike herringbone, where rectangular blocks overlap, the 90mm by 510mm chevron boards meet at a mitred point and line up in straight rows of Vs. In 14/3mm terms, 14mm is how thick the whole board is and 3mm is the depth of real oak on its face. Cross-laid layers resist the swelling and shrinking that solid wood is prone to, which helps the joints stay tight. 3mm of real oak gives you the grain and feel of timber, with scope for a careful professional sand later on. Bevels on all four edges (4V) frame each board and help the geometry stand out. A pack covers 1.836 m² of floor.

Where it works

It is listed for kitchens, conservatories, hallways, bedrooms, dining rooms and living rooms, as well as stairs. Stairs need a finished edge, so add stair nosing to the order. In a hallway, the chevrons point the way through the house. Like any real oak floor it isn't waterproof, so keep standing water off it in the kitchen. Fitting and underfloor heating

It has tongue and groove joints and can be laid floating over an underlay or glued down to a prepared subfloor. For a floating fit, start with the right underlay for wood floors. Allow roughly 10% extra for cutting and waste when you work out how many packs you need.
