Natural Brushed & Oiled Oak 190mm Engineered Plank

This Natural Brushed & Oiled Oak is a heavier-duty version of the colour, on a 20mm Nevada board with a 4mm real oak top layer. Its 190mm by 1900mm planks give a broader, calmer floor than the narrow-board options.

Look and character

The colour is a true natural oak: warm, mid-toned and honest, with the grain doing the decorating. Brushing lifts that grain into a soft texture, and the oil sinks in to leave a matt surface that looks and feels like wood rather than a coating. With Classic grade selection, knots are small and occasional. The wider plank shows longer stretches of grain, which suits modern open-plan spaces as well as traditional rooms, and the natural colour works with almost any palette.

Construction and specification

Boards are 1900mm long and 190mm wide, with 1.805 m² in every pack. The board is 20mm thick overall, and the top 4mm is real oak. Beneath it sits a multi-ply base of cross-laid layers, which resists the swelling and shrinking that solid boards can suffer as heating and humidity change. The oil finish is easy to refresh: scuffed areas can be cleaned and re-oiled without sanding the whole room. A 2V bevel along the two long sides gives soft lines down the length of the floor without breaking it up at the ends.

Where it works

Living and dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways, kitchens and conservatories are all good places for it. Carrying the floor up the staircase is possible; use stair nosing to finish the tread edges neatly.

Fitting and underfloor heating

Fitting is tongue and groove, either as a floating floor over a good underlay or fully glued to the subfloor. It is suitable for underfloor heating. For a floating installation, choose a flooring underlay that matches your subfloor. When you work out quantities, add around 10% for offcuts and waste. Around the edges, scotia beading neatly hides the expansion gap left at the skirting.
