Tanned Oak Distressed 190mm Engineered Plank

Tanned Oak Distressed is a warm, sun-browned engineered plank with an aged surface, from our New York range. The 190mm by 1900mm boards are distressed and wax oiled over a 3mm real oak top layer.

Look and character

The colour is a tanned mid brown, warm like saddle leather, with the grain and knots picked out by the finish. Distressing gives the boards a worn, lived-in texture, and the wax oil leaves a soft, low-sheen surface that feels natural underfoot. Classic grade oak keeps the knots in proportion, so the character comes mainly from the distressing rather than heavy features. It suits both contemporary and traditional interiors, and works particularly well in family rooms and hallways where an aged surface hides everyday wear.

Construction and specification

Each pack holds 2.888 m² of 190mm wide planks, 1900mm in length. The 4V bevel runs round every edge, adding definition and a slightly more rustic, board-by-board look. The board is 14mm thick overall, and the top 3mm is real oak. Beneath it sits a multi-ply base of cross-laid layers, which resists the swelling and shrinking that solid boards can suffer as heating and humidity change. The oil finish is easy to refresh: scuffed areas can be cleaned and re-oiled without sanding the whole room.

Where it works

A mid tone is forgiving day to day, hiding dust and crumbs better than very pale or very dark floors. You can run it from the hallway into living and dining rooms, and use it in bedrooms, kitchens and conservatories too. The same boards can continue onto the stairs, with stair nosing to finish each step.

Fitting and underfloor heating

It can be laid over underfloor heating; more choices are in our underfloor heating flooring collection. The boards join with a tongue and groove and can be laid floating over underlay or glued down to a prepared subfloor. For a floating installation, choose a flooring underlay that matches your subfloor. Allow roughly 10% extra on top of your measured area for cutting and waste.
