Weathered Oak Distressed Hand Sawn looks like timber reclaimed from an old building. Wide 220mm Nature boards carry saw marks and distressing under a smoked-grey hardwax oil, on a 4mm real oak top layer.

Look and character

The colour is a weathered, greyed natural oak, with a smoky-grey wash over the wood that gives it an antique, sun-bleached feel. Cross-cut saw marks run across the grain, and distressing softens edges and adds knocks, so the surface is full of texture. The hardwax oil settles into those marks and keeps the floor matt and tactile. It is the cooler-toned partner to Golden Oak Distressed Hand Sawn, and suits barn conversions, industrial lofts and rooms with exposed brick, stone or reclaimed timber.

Construction and specification

Planks measure 220mm wide by 1900mm long, and each pack covers 2.508 m². The long edges are bevelled (2V), so you see the long lines of the boards while the ends butt up tight. This is a 15/4mm engineered board: 15mm from face to underside, of which the upper 4mm is real oak. A multi-ply core does the structural work, keeping movement low when the room warms up or cools down. Hardwax oil soaks into the wood and hardens near the surface, combining a natural feel with good resistance to everyday wear.

Where it works

It is at home in hallways, living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms, and works in kitchens and conservatories with a little care. The same boards can continue onto the stairs, with stair nosing to finish each step.

Fitting and underfloor heating

The boards join with a tongue and groove and can be laid floating over underlay or glued down to a prepared subfloor. For a floating installation, choose a flooring underlay that matches your subfloor. Around the edges, scotia beading neatly hides the expansion gap left at the skirting.
