Tile-effect glue-down LVT: stone, slate and marble looks in warm, quiet, waterproof vinyl. A practical alternative to ceramic tile for kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and commercial spaces, without the cold floor or the grout lines to scrub.
Yes. Luxury vinyl tiles and planks are made from vinyl layers, so the boards themselves are not damaged by water. That makes them a good choice for bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms. Seal the edges with a suitable sealant in bathrooms and wipe up standing water, so it cannot get beneath the floor.
It depends on priorities. LVT is warmer, quieter, softer underfoot and has no grout to clean, and dropped items are less likely to break. Ceramic and porcelain are harder and can last for decades. For kitchens, bathrooms and family homes, many people find LVT the more comfortable choice.
A straight grid gives a clean, formal look that suits modern rooms. A brick-bond stagger, offsetting each row by half a tile, feels more relaxed and hides slight variations in walls. With a rectangular tile like ours, a stagger of a third or a half both work well.
Yes. It is waterproof, which makes it well suited to bathrooms. Glued to a well-prepared subfloor and sealed at the edges, it creates a warm, easy-to-clean floor with no grout lines to scrub. It is also comfortable underfoot first thing in the morning, unlike ceramic.
This is a small edit of stone-effect designs, with stone, slate, marble and graphite looks, for anyone who wants a tiled floor without the drawbacks of ceramic. All share one specification: 2.5mm thick with a 0.55mm wear layer, in 305mm by 610mm tiles.
LVT tiles are warmer and softer underfoot than ceramic or natural stone, much quieter, and less likely to break a dropped glass. They are also lighter and thinner, so they suit upstairs bathrooms where the weight of stone would be a concern. There are no grout joints to stain, and the surface is waterproof, which makes them ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, utility rooms and cloakrooms.
Tiles are glued to a smooth, levelled subfloor with a vinyl adhesive. The 305mm by 610mm format can be laid in a straight grid or a brick-bond stagger, and the choice changes the character of the room. Fitting is usually done by a professional, who will level the subfloor first so no imperfections show through. Allow 10% extra for cuts.
