Natural Oak 80mm Engineered Herringbone

This Natural Oak brings the proportions of older parquet floors to a warm, natural oak colour. The 80mm blocks are 18mm thick with a 3mm real oak top layer.

Look and character

The tone is medium natural oak, with warm colour and visible grain giving each area of the floor its own character. Brushing adds texture and the matt lacquer keeps the finish low in sheen rather than glossy. Classic grade oak has natural knots and variation. It suits period interiors with original details as well as relaxed modern rooms.

Construction and specification

At 80mm wide and 300mm long, these are compact blocks with the close-set look of older parquet floors. The 18/3mm figures describe two parts of the same block: 18mm is the full thickness, and 3mm of that is the real oak top layer you see and walk on. That engineered core is what keeps the floor steady when the air in the room gets drier or more humid through the year. A 3mm oak layer can be lightly sanded and refinished by a professional if the surface ever needs refreshing. A 4V bevel puts a small chamfer on all four edges, so every block is outlined and the pattern reads crisply. Each pack covers 1.44 m².

Where it works

You can lay it in hallways, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, conservatories and kitchens, and carry it on up the stairs. Kitchens are fine as long as spills are wiped up, because real oak is not waterproof. In a hallway the zigzag leads you through the house; in a dining room it frames the table. Fitting and underfloor heating

Fit it with tongue and groove joints, either floating on a suitable underlay or fully glued down. Our flooring underlay range covers floating installations. It is suitable for underfloor heating. Finish the edges with scotia beading. Order about 10% more than the measured area to allow for cuts at the edges.
