Sterling Silver Oak is a small-block herringbone in a soft silver-grey, somewhere between natural oak and a dark stain. The 80mm blocks sit on an 18mm engineered build with a 3mm real oak top layer.
The colour isn't a flat grey: silver tones mix with warmer oak variation and darker grain lines. Brushing brings out the texture, and a matt lacquer keeps the sheen low. Classic grade oak retains natural differences in grain and tone. It pairs well with pale walls, grey upholstery and contrasting dark fittings.
Small 80 x 300mm blocks give a detailed pattern with lots of joints, which is what makes classic parquet look the way it does. A 4V bevel puts a small chamfer on all four edges, so every block is outlined and the pattern reads crisply. The 18/3mm figures describe two parts of the same block: 18mm is the full thickness, and 3mm of that is the real oak top layer you see and walk on. 3mm of real oak gives you the grain and feel of timber, with scope for a careful professional sand later on. Engineering the board this way keeps it flatter and more stable than a solid block of the same size. Packs cover 1.44 m² each.
Herringbone runs well from room to room, so it can link a hall, kitchen and living space in one pattern. It is listed for kitchens, conservatories, hallways, bedrooms, dining rooms and living rooms, as well as stairs. Stairs need a finished edge, so add stair nosing to the order. Compare other herringbone engineered wood floors to weigh up sizes and colours. Like any real oak floor it isn't waterproof, so keep standing water off it in the kitchen.
Installation is tongue and groove, and your fitter can choose a floating or glue-down method. Add around 10% to the room size to cover cuts and waste. If you float it, choose a suitable flooring underlay first. Matching scotia beading neatens the join at the skirting. It is suitable for underfloor heating.
Screens can't show texture or sheen properly, so a large free sample of Sterling Silver Oak is the best way to judge it. You can have 3 large free samples, and you are welcome at our Halesowen showroom, 214a Dudley Road.
This product features a Tongue & Groove installation system. It can be floated over an underlay or fully bonded to the subfloor.
