Cloud Grey Oak is a soft, mid-grey herringbone that gives a classic parquet pattern a cooler, contemporary colour. It is 15mm thick with a 4mm real oak top layer and 90mm blocks.
The tone is a medium grey, gentle rather than stark, with the oak grain showing through the colour like light through cloud. A lacquered finish seals the surface, which makes day-to-day cleaning simple. Classic grade gives some knots and variation from block to block. This soft grey pairs with white, charcoal and blue schemes and makes a good partner for modern kitchens and pale furniture.
At 90mm wide and 400mm long, the blocks sit in the middle of the herringbone range: detailed enough to look like parquet, broad enough to show the grain. A 4V bevel puts a small chamfer on all four edges, so every block is outlined and the pattern reads crisply. In 15/4mm terms, 15mm is how thick the whole block is and 4mm is the depth of real oak on its face. There is enough oak in a 4mm layer for a professional sand and refinish if the surface ever looks tired. Because the plies run in alternating directions, the blocks move far less than solid timber as the heating comes on and the seasons change. A pack covers 1.872 m² of floor.
Herringbone runs well from room to room, so it can link a hall, kitchen and living space in one pattern. You can lay it in hallways, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, conservatories and kitchens, and carry it on up the stairs. Like any real oak floor it isn't waterproof, so keep standing water off it in the kitchen. If you are continuing up the stairs, choose matching stair nosing for the tread edges. Installation is tongue and groove, and your fitter can choose a floating or glue-down method. Allow roughly 10% extra for cutting and waste when you work out how many packs you need. A floating installation needs a good flooring underlay underneath. Cover the expansion gap at the walls with scotia beading. It can be used over underfloor heating, and you'll find other options in our underfloor heating flooring collection.
Cloud Grey Oak will look different in your light than on a screen, so order a large free sample first. You can have up to 3 large free samples, or visit our Halesowen showroom to see floors in person.
This product features a Tongue & Groove installation system. It can be floated over an underlay or fully bonded to the subfloor.
