This version of Natural Brushed Oak is the heavier build: an 18mm engineered herringbone with a 4mm real oak top layer. The 90mm blocks carry a warm, natural oak colour with a brushed, oiled surface.
Its tone is medium natural oak with a warm, inviting feel. The brushed UV oiled finish gives a textured, matt surface that brings the grain forward. As a Classic grade oak, it has some knots and variation but a calmer look than rustic oak. It is a versatile floor that works in period homes and in simple modern interiors.
At 90mm wide and 400mm long, the blocks sit in the middle of the herringbone range: detailed enough to look like parquet, broad enough to show the grain. Bevels on all four edges (4V) frame each block and help the geometry stand out. In 18/4mm terms, 18mm is how thick the whole block is and 4mm is the depth of real oak on its face. A 4mm top layer leaves a good depth of oak for sanding and refinishing later on. Because the plies run in alternating directions, the blocks move far less than solid timber as the heating comes on and the seasons change. A pack covers 1.44 m² of floor.
In a hallway the zigzag leads you through the house; in a dining room it frames the table. It is suitable for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways, kitchens and conservatories, and it can be used on stairs too. On stairs, finish each tread with stair nosing. Browse our herringbone engineered wood floors to see it next to other colours. It is not waterproof, so in kitchens wipe up spills quickly.
It has tongue and groove joints and can be laid floating over an underlay or glued down to a prepared subfloor. For a floating fit, start with the right underlay for wood floors. It can be used over underfloor heating, and you'll find other options in our underfloor heating flooring collection. Add around 10% to the room size to cover cuts and waste. Matching scotia beading neatens the join at the skirting.

This product features a Tongue & Groove installation system. It can be floated over an underlay or fully bonded to the subfloor.
