Natural White Oak 125mm Engineered Herringbone

Natural White Oak is a light, airy herringbone in larger 125mm blocks, finished with oil for a soft, natural feel. It has a 3mm real oak top layer on a 14mm multi-ply base.

Look and character

The tone is light, with a white cast over natural oak that keeps the floor bright. The oiled finish adds a little warmth and depth, bringing out the fine grain. Classic grade oak shows some knots and variation. With larger blocks and a pale colour, the floor makes rooms feel open and calm.

Construction and specification

At 125 x 600mm, each block shows a good run of grain, so the herringbone reads as confident rather than busy. The 4V bevelled edges give each block a fine shadow line on all four sides. The 14/3mm figures describe two parts of the same block: 14mm is the full thickness, and 3mm of that is the real oak top layer you see and walk on. 3mm of real oak gives you the grain and feel of timber, with scope for a careful professional sand later on. Engineering the board this way keeps it flatter and more stable than a solid block of the same size. Each pack covers 1.2 m².

Where it works

In a hallway the zigzag leads you through the house. Rooms listed for this floor are the living room, bedroom, hallway, kitchen and conservatory, plus stairs. On stairs, finish each tread with stair nosing. Our herringbone floors in engineered wood include more colours and sizes to compare. Kitchens are fine as long as spills are wiped up, because real oak is not waterproof.

Fitting and underfloor heating

The tongue and groove blocks can be floated or glued down, depending on your subfloor. Our flooring underlay range covers floating installations. The floor is suitable for use with underfloor heating, like the rest of our underfloor heating flooring. Cover the expansion gap at the walls with scotia beading. Add around 10% to the room size to cover cuts and waste.
