Pale Invisible Oak in the wide 150mm click format is a light, relaxed herringbone that is laid as a floating floor. It is Classic grade oak with a 3mm real oak top layer on a 14mm base.
The colour is pale natural oak, subtle and understated. Here the surface is brushed and matt lacquered, so there is a gentle texture you can feel and a low sheen. Classic grade gives some knots and grain variation, adding a little character to the light tone. The wide blocks suit large rooms, open-plan spaces and modern homes.
At 150 x 600mm, this is one of the wider herringbone formats, so the pattern is bold and the room feels less busy. The 4V bevelled edges give each block a fine shadow line on all four sides. Under the 3mm real oak surface sits a multi-ply base, bringing each block to 14mm in total. A 3mm oak layer can be lightly sanded and refinished by a professional if the surface ever needs refreshing. That engineered core is what keeps the floor steady when the air in the room gets drier or more humid through the year. Each pack covers 1.8 m².
Start the pattern from the room's main sight line, often the doorway, so the zigzag runs where it is seen most. It is suitable for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways, kitchens and conservatories, and it can be used on stairs too. Like any real oak floor it isn't waterproof, so keep standing water off it in the kitchen. Stairs need a finished edge, so add stair nosing to the order. Compare other engineered herringbone floors to weigh up sizes and colours.
Click joints mean the herringbone goes down as a floating floor, which keeps installation simpler than a bonded parquet. Start with the right underlay for wood floors. Underfloor heating is fine with this floor; browse more underfloor heating flooring if you are comparing. Cover the expansion gap at the walls with scotia beading. Herringbone involves more cutting than a straight plank floor, so add about 10% to your measured area for cuts and waste.
Colour and grain vary from block to block, so it pays to see Pale Invisible Oak at home before you buy. Order up to 3 large free samples, or call us on 0121 274 8575 and we can help you choose.
This product features a Click installation system. It can be floated over an underlay.
