Pale Invisible Oak 150mm Engineered Herringbone, Prime Grade

The Prime grade Pale Invisible Oak is a calmer, cleaner take on the wide click herringbone. Its 150mm blocks have a 3mm real oak top layer on a 14mm multi-ply base and lock together with click joints.

Look and character

The colour is pale natural oak with a natural-looking matt finish. Prime grade oak is selected for fewer knots and a more even colour, so the floor looks smooth and refined. The invisible matt lacquer keeps the surface close to raw oak in appearance while sealing it. It is a strong fit for light, Scandinavian-style interiors with simple cabinetry and pale walls.

Construction and specification

The build is 14mm in total, made up of a 3mm layer of real oak over cross-laid plywood. 3mm of real oak gives you the grain and feel of timber, with scope for a careful professional sand later on. That engineered core is what keeps the floor steady when the air in the room gets drier or more humid through the year. At 150 x 600mm, this is one of the wider herringbone formats, so the pattern is bold and the room feels less busy. Bevels on all four edges (4V) frame each block and help the geometry stand out. A pack covers 1.8 m² of floor.

Where it works

In a hallway the zigzag leads you through the house; in a dining room it frames the table. Use it through the main living spaces, bedrooms, the hallway, kitchen and conservatory, and on stairs. In a kitchen, mop up spills promptly, as real oak is not waterproof. For a staircase, pair it with our stair nosing for a neat edge on every tread. Fitting and underfloor heating

Click joints mean the herringbone goes down as a floating floor, which keeps installation simpler than a bonded parquet. Choose a suitable flooring underlay to go underneath. It is suitable for underfloor heating. Cover the expansion gap at the walls with scotia beading. Order about 10% more than the measured area to allow for cuts at the edges.
