Soft Lacquered Oak 150mm Engineered Plank

Soft Lacquered Oak is a gentle, mid-brown engineered plank from our Nevada range. The 150mm boards come in random lengths with a brushed surface and a soft lacquer finish.

Look and character

The colour is a soft, warm mid brown, a touch deeper than natural oak without becoming dark. The lacquer has a subtle sheen that brings out the grain, while brushing underneath keeps the surface from looking flat. Classic grade oak adds small knots and gentle variation. With random lengths, the floor has a traditional board rhythm that works in both small and large rooms, from a compact hallway to an open living space.

Construction and specification

Planks are 150mm wide in random lengths, and each pack covers 1.44 m². It is a classic board width with a traditional feel that suits most room sizes. A 2V bevel along the two long sides gives soft lines down the length of the floor without breaking it up at the ends. The board is 14mm thick overall, and the top 3mm is real oak. Beneath it sits a multi-ply base of cross-laid layers, which resists the swelling and shrinking that solid boards can suffer as heating and humidity change. The 3mm top layer can be sanded and refinished when it eventually needs it. Being lacquered, the surface is sealed and low-maintenance: sweep, then clean with a damp, well-wrung mop.

Where it works

Use it through the main rooms of the house: living room, dining room, hallway and bedrooms, plus kitchens and conservatories. It can go up the stairs as well, finished with matching stair nosing on each tread.

Fitting and underfloor heating

You can glue it down or lay it floating; the tongue and groove edges join each board to the next. If you float it, pick an underlay from our flooring underlay range to go beneath it. It is suitable for underfloor heating. Add about 10% to your room size for cuts and waste.
