Distressed White Oak 220mm Engineered Plank

Distressed White Oak is a wide, characterful engineered plank from our New York range. Boards 220mm wide and 2200mm long carry a distressed white oak face under a premium waxed oil finish.

Look and character

The colour is a soft, bright white over real oak, with the grain, knots and individual markings of the timber still showing through. Distressing gives the surface a gently aged texture, so the floor looks lived in rather than factory perfect, and the waxed oil keeps it matt and natural to the touch. On a wide plank the character has room to show, which suits open-plan spaces and larger rooms. It brightens a room without feeling cold, and works with Scandinavian, coastal and relaxed country schemes as well as cleaner contemporary interiors.

Construction and specification

A 15/4mm build means 15mm in total, with 4mm of real oak forming the surface you walk on. Under the face is a cross-bonded multi-ply core, which is what lets an engineered plank cope with central heating better than a solid board of the same size. Each pack holds 2.904 m² of 220mm wide planks, 2200mm in length. All four edges carry a 4V bevel, which gives each plank a crisp outline across the room. There is enough wood in a 4mm top layer to sand and refinish it more than once, and worn areas of an oiled floor can be re-oiled locally.

Where it works

Living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways are all good places for it, and it can also be used in kitchens and conservatories. It can go up the stairs as well, finished with matching stair nosing on each tread.

Fitting and underfloor heating

It is a tongue and groove board that can be glued down or floated over underlay, depending on your subfloor. For a floating installation, choose a flooring underlay that matches your subfloor. When you work out quantities, add around 10% for offcuts and waste, and finish the edges with scotia beading.
