Embossed Natural Oak Herringbone 12mm Laminate

Embossed Natural Oak Herringbone pairs a natural, mid-toned oak colour with a classic zigzag parquet layout. Its textured and embossed surface is the feature the name points to, giving the 100mm blocks a real sense of grain.

Look and character

This is a natural oak shade in the medium range, neither pale nor dark, so it fits into most homes without a fight. The embossing gives each block a grain you can feel, which makes the floor look more convincing at close range and softens reflections from windows. In herringbone, the blocks catch the light at alternate angles, so the natural colour gains depth and movement. It works well with warm white, sage and taupe walls and with oak, walnut or painted furniture.

Construction and specification

The 12mm build has real body to it, so the floor feels steady when you walk across it and sounds less hollow once laid over a good underlay. The AC4 rating means the surface is tested for heavy domestic traffic and general commercial use, so it copes well with hallways and family rooms. At 100mm by 600mm, the blocks are proportioned like traditional parquet. Packs cover 1.92 m² each, so round up to the next full pack. All four edges carry a small 4V bevel, which outlines each block and adds depth to the floor.

Fitting and underfloor heating

The blocks click together and are laid as a floating floor, so nothing is fixed down to the subfloor. Choose the right underlay for laminate for your subfloor; it evens out minor bumps and cuts down noise. Order about 10% more than the measured area, because the angled layout means extra cuts along each wall.
