Castle Grey Oak Herringbone 12mm Laminate

Castle Grey Oak Herringbone is a mid-grey parquet-style laminate from our Craft range, with a Scandinavian feel. The small 95mm blocks and AC5 surface make it a hard-wearing way to add pattern to a room.

Look and character

The colour is a medium grey with oak grain showing through, giving an airy, understated floor that fits contemporary and classic rooms alike. In a herringbone, the grey shifts slightly from block to block as the light hits each direction, so the floor has depth rather than looking flat. The textured and embossed surface follows the grain, and the bevelled edges outline every block. It works well with white walls, pale woods, black metal and soft blues, and gives a calm, Nordic-style base for a room.

Construction and specification

A 12mm thickness means more substance than an entry-level laminate: the blocks feel solid underfoot and bridge small dips in the subfloor better. All four edges carry a small 4V bevel, which outlines each block and adds depth to the floor. Packs cover 1.607 m² each, so round up to the next full pack. Block size is 95mm wide by 470mm long, so the zigzag stays crisp and readable across a room. The AC5 rating is the top of the usual laminate scale and means the surface is built to cope with heavy foot traffic, so hallways and busy family rooms are well within its range.

Where it works

You can lay it in conservatories, kitchens, living rooms, hallways and bedrooms. In hallways, a doormat at the entrance catches grit before it reaches the floor. Fitting and underfloor heating

The blocks click together and are laid as a floating floor, so nothing is fixed down to the subfloor. Lay it over a suitable flooring underlay, which smooths out small bumps and softens footfall noise. Herringbone takes more cutting at the walls than straight planks, so add about 10% to your room size for cuts and waste.
