Smoked Oak Herringbone 12mm Laminate

Smoked Oak Herringbone gives the deep, smoky colour of fumed oak to a classic parquet layout. The 100mm blocks and dark tone make a rich, dramatic floor on a hard-wearing 12mm laminate.

Look and character

The colour is a dark, smoked brown, the kind of shade traditionally achieved by fuming oak, here reproduced as an oak-effect laminate. In a herringbone, the dark blocks show the zigzag clearly and the grain changes direction at every joint, giving the floor depth. The textured and embossed surface adds grain underfoot. It suits period homes and moody modern schemes alike, and looks particularly good with white or pale plaster walls, brass, velvet and deep green or blue paint. Dark floors do show dust more than mid tones.

Construction and specification

At 12mm, these blocks sit at the thicker end of laminate, which gives a firmer and quieter feel underfoot than slimmer boards. It carries an AC4 abrasion rating, which covers busy homes and light commercial spaces, so daily footfall, chair legs and kids are well within its range. One pack covers 1.92 m². All four edges carry a small 4V bevel, which outlines each block and adds depth to the floor. Block size is 100mm wide by 600mm long, so the zigzag stays crisp and readable across a room.

Where it works

You can lay it in conservatories, living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, dining rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. In hallways, a doormat at the entrance catches grit before it reaches the floor. Fitting and underfloor heating

Fitting uses a click system, with the finished floor laid floating over an underlay. A good laminate underlay goes underneath to level small imperfections and quieten the floor. Order about 10% more than the measured area, because the angled layout means extra cuts along each wall.
