Smoked Limed Oak 90mm Engineered Herringbone

Smoked Limed Oak combines two traditional treatments: smoking to darken the oak and liming to lift the grain. It is a 90mm engineered herringbone with a 3mm real oak top layer.

Look and character

The overall tone is dark and smoky, while the limed effect draws paler lines through the open grain, so the texture stands out. Brushing deepens that texture, and a UV oiled finish keeps the surface natural and matt. Classic grade oak adds some knots and variation. The contrast of dark wood and lighter grain gives the floor depth and a characterful, rustic feel.

Construction and specification

A 90mm width with a 450mm length gives a balanced zigzag, less busy than small-block parquet and less bold than the wide formats. The 4V bevelled edges give each block a fine shadow line on all four sides. In 14/3mm terms, 14mm is how thick the whole block is and 3mm is the depth of real oak on its face. A 3mm oak layer can be lightly sanded and refinished by a professional if the surface ever needs refreshing. That engineered core is what keeps the floor steady when the air in the room gets drier or more humid through the year. Packs cover 1.944 m² each.

Herringbone runs well from room to room, so it can link a hall, kitchen and living space in one pattern. Rooms listed for this floor are the living room, bedroom, dining room, hallway, kitchen and conservatory, plus stairs. Stairs need a finished edge, so add stair nosing to the order. Fitting and underfloor heating

Installation is tongue and groove, and your fitter can choose a floating or glue-down method. For a floating fit, start with the right underlay for wood floors. The floor is suitable for use with underfloor heating, like the rest of our underfloor heating flooring. Add around 10% to the room size to cover cuts and waste. Matching scotia beading neatens the join at the skirting.
